Graduating from school is the key to higher education. Without a high school diploma, you can’t start your bachelor’s degree. Some young people think school is not very important — but that’s not true. If you don’t study well in school, it’s hard to pass the Kankor (university entrance exam). Even if you do pass, university studies will be difficult.
For example, math is a subject that is needed in almost every faculty. If you don’t learn it properly in school, you’ll face many problems later and might wonder where to start again. The same goes for all subjects — each one is important for your future studies.
Have You Graduated from School?
Now that you’ve graduated, it’s time to choose your next step. Choosing the right faculty can be a bit confusing, but I want to share some advice — based on my own experience.
I graduated from school in 2013 and registered for the Kankor exam. I had five choices: my first was Computer Science, and the other four were in Science Faculty (Biology, Chemistry, Math, and Physics). I made a mistake in choosing, and I was accepted into the Biology Department at Balkh University.
I studied there for one year, but later transferred to Nangarhar University. After thinking carefully, I realized my real interest was in Computer Science. I took the entrance exam for a private university, got accepted, and started studying Computer Science. Last year, I completed my Master’s degree in Kabul. I’m very happy with my decision because it brought me many opportunities and success.
My Advice
I hope you already have a plan for which faculty to choose. Never pick a faculty just because your family or friends say so. Instead, make a list of all the faculties you’re interested in. Search for information online and talk to people who have experience in those fields. Then, decide what’s best for you.
At this stage of your life, you’re mature enough to plan your own future. Take time to choose wisely — your decision today will shape your tomorrow.
